DAGENHAM GIRLS LEAD THE WAY

Funding helps develop girls’ football in Essex

In July, the Trust awarded funds towards a new programme at Dagenham & Redbridge FC to help their community trust set up a girls’ football project Eastbury School.

The Community Trust organised girls football festivals over half-term week to celebrate the success of the girls’ projects. Some of the girls from Eastbury school entered and dominated their event, winning all their games without conceding a single goal!

Chairman Brian Lee visited them on 12 November to present the grant cheque, meeting some of the girls and the Trust Manager Richard Tyne (on the left).

In thanking the NLT, Richard said: “The second festival was again a hugely successful event with the majority of the boroughs school in attendance. The overall winners of the tournament were Eastbury School, where a combination of effort, skill and determination saw them go unbeaten throughout the tournament without conceding a goal! As part of our new National League Trust Funding the girls from Eastbury currently receive daily coaching from Dagenham and Redbridge’s Community Trust staff, their dominant performance in this week’s events reflects how important the consistency of continued quality coaching has on female player development and this is something we are working hard to establish in other schools across the borough.”
