England Management Team up with Woking

Roy Hodgson and Ray Lewington Visit Cards in the Community

Woking’s Cards in the Community team had a great experience at the end of October when they spent the day coaching with England Manager Roy Hodgson and his assistance Ray Lewington. This was a fundraising event for the Mane Chance Horse Sanctuary, based in Compton. Last Woking and the Sanctuary both picked up awards from BBC Surrey for their work, and this led to both organisations looking to find ways they could work together.

So when the email arrived asking for help in running a coaching day for 160 children it seemed a fantastic opportunity. Eight of the Development and Community coaches joined the England Management Team running drills and small sided games throughout the day. It was a great day, and one that the children and coaches will remember for a long time. The Sanctuary received some much needed funding and Woking were able to promote their community work to a new audience.
