Cardinals in the Community (Woking FC)

Cardinals in the Community are the Club’s associated charity and have a long standing reputation for community activity and support in this part of Surrey. They ran Holiday Camps during the Easter and Summer Holidays, in partnership with West Byfleet Infant and Junior School. They extended the usual provision to longer and more frequent days to cover the working day of parents.

The camps allowed parents to work as “normal” from home, and with the summer holiday especially allowed children to restart activities they had missed out on during the lockdown period. This also meant, teachers could have a suitable rest period, rather than being in school continuously.

They delivered over 175 hours of activity across 27 days, with 217 children attending.

Chris Sexton from the Cardinals said: “With our COVID Procedures and flexibility with days and times of provision, we have left a positive impression on the local community. This has enhanced our reputation in Woking. Parents have already began asking about October Half Term provision.”
