A sunny day to watch two enthralling matches at Wembley for the NLT U11s Cup Finals held on Sunday 5 May.
AFC Fylde – represented by Heyhouses Endowed Church of England Primary School – triumphed in the Girls’ Final, beating Slough Town – represented by Lynch Hill – 1-0 in a tightly fought match.
In the Mixed Final, Oldham Athletic – represented by St Herbert’s RC Primary School – beat Aldershot Town – represented by South Farnham School – 2-1 in a thrilling final.
Schools from across the country competed in a six-a-side tournament for the chance to play in the Final at Wembley Stadium.
After winning their respective finals on the Wembley turf, both winning sides then climbed the famous steps to the Royal Box to collect their trophies. Afterwards they re-joined their families and friends to watch the Promotion Play-Off between Bromley and Solihull Moors, which Bromley won after a penalty shoot-out
Thank you to the UCFB students who were a tremendous help managing the event, and to the referees: Neive Naughton took charge of the Girls’ Final and Kacper Ignatiuk the Mixed. Also thanks to Graham Scambler for the amazing photos which really captures the skill, enjoyment and team work.
Congratulations to all who took part!
