Trust funds eleven projects in January 2022

 

 

The latest funding round has concluded with eleven grants being offered towards funding for community engagement projects, including:

Boreham Wood Community Trust aim to use a grant of £25,000 to host affordable sport-based activities to improve the health, confidence and general happiness of participants through their Trust in the Community project. They hope this will boost the local community and encourage these groups to socially interact with each other while improving their self-esteem and health. Activities will include disability sessions, walking football sessions, weekly community football, tournaments, fun days and a school programme. For more information on the Trust or these projects, visit their website here. 

Bromley FC Community Trust were awarded £25,000 for their Women and Girls Football project, and the project aims to increase the level of female football participation in the Borough. They have introduced some initiatives over the last three years which have focused on girls and now wish to take this further and begin to increase the level of support with a particular focus on women. Dagenham & Redbridge FC Community Trust were successful in their application for £25,000 for their Stepping Outside Your Comfort Zone – Changing minds, attitudes and lives project, with the main activity being school holiday multi-sport camps aimed at young people. The project aims to encourage young people to engage in exercise for body and mind, encourage them to step outside their comfort zone, work together as a team, engage with others, solve problems, increase self-awareness and grow in confidence whilst considering others. Darlington FC Foundation will use a grant of £7,500 to develop a programme of Pre-match Activities aimed at children and young people who are from deprived, isolated or marginalised parts of their catchment area. For more information about the Foundation or the projectvisit their website here. 

Dartford FC Community Programme received £20,000 towards their continued aim of Developing Confident And Engaged Young Citizens, improving the learning experience of children and using the theme of football and the Club as a vehicle to provide learning opportunities. Hereford FC’s project will look to impact young people aged 6 to 18 years in Herefordshire, after receiving a grant of £16,743. They want to increase the number of girls playing football, work with vulnerable and deprived young people who have been isolated during COVID 19 and continue some of the projects that were delivered with previous NLT funding including school delivery, Going for Goal and HAF projects working alongside the Council. Maidenhead United FC Community Trust was in receipt of £25,000 of funding to support their Magpies in the Community – Activate project. The focus of the project is to deliver a targeted programme of activity designed to encourage and enable those with a disability, older people and disadvantaged people to become more socially and physically active. Solihull Moors Foundation programme for Solihull Women’s Veterans will use a grant of £20,000 to develop a Women’s Veteran Walking Football League and create two new Women’s Walking Football teams to compete in this new league. They will increase their fitness, coordination, stamina and general physical health, along with benefiting from reduced isolation by building a social network of likeminded individuals. Stones Community Trust (Maidstone United FC) were awarded £20,000 in funding for two projects – the FitStones programme, which is aimed at men to improve their physical fitness and mental health, and Schools Out which provides holiday activities to vulnerable families in areas of poverty. This programme includes sports, arts and crafts, music, a meal and daily snacks. For more information on the Trust or either of these projects, visit their website here.

Wealdstone FC  secured £20,000 of funding for two elements of their project: a maths and activity programme in schools and a tea dancing programme for the older but still active generation. In the schools project, activities include a combined maths programme which is part of the national curriculum and disguises maths questions by using football settings, and it is for mixed ability children in Year 3 (7 to 8 year olds). York City FC Foundation were successful in their application for £11,166 towards their Boot the Blues project. They aim to provide a space where men can talk to each other and provide support for each other, by providing weekly sessions facilitated by coaches and providing the right social environment to encourage peer support.
